Being You

Holding On No Matter What!

December 23, 2013

In a recent interview with Gary Douglas, founder of Access Consciousness®, regarding his upcoming telecall series entitled “The Tenacity of Consciousness,” Douglas was asked to define tenacity. “Tenacity,” Douglas said, “means to hold on regardless.” He went on to say, “If you looked at your life, when things have gone wrong ,and rather than giving up, you made the choice to do more, to create more, those are the moments that you actually had a tenacious hold on your life and on your reality. We have to get to the point that we can hold on to our own reality and KNOW that almost anything is possible.”

What does it mean to “hold on to our own reality?” Douglas says that the first step is to create your own reality; a reality that works. Often time’s people create a reality that DOESN’T work, and then they hold on to that. One of the targets that Douglas has for the “Tenacity of Consciousness” telecall series is to get people to the place where they are creating a life that works in every aspect without coming to a conclusion about anything – EVER. He says, “My desire is to get people out of the conclusions they keep coming to because what I watch people do continuously is try desperately to find out what’s right or find out the right thing or do the right thing. And if you’re spending your life judging whether you’re doing right or wrong, are you really creating your life? And, are you creating something that’s worth keeping and tenaciously holding on to? Or, are you tenaciously holding on to things that don’t work?”

Everywhere that we are creating our life based on judgment, based on what’s right and wrong as defined by this reality, we end up creating what doesn’t really work for us. And how often do we decide and conclude that even if it doesn’t really work for us, we must hold on to it? Maybe we hold on in an attempt to fit into this reality. Maybe we are unwilling to leap into the unknown. Or maybe we never realized that we had another choice. Whatever the reason may be, choosing to let go of the things that we are holding on to that are not actually working puts us on the path towards the tenacity of consciousness. Here’s a question you can ask:

What am I holding on to that I don’t actually need to hold on to that if I didn’t hold on to it, would change my whole reality? Everything that brings up, will you destroy and uncreate it all? Right and wrong, good and bad, POD and POC, all nines, shorts, boys and beyond.

Once we begin to let go of the things that we are holding on to that are based on judgment and conclusion, we open up to our own awareness of what is true for us, we open up to an entirely different possibility, and we begin to create our reality based on what we know to be true.

Douglas says, “You want to create your own reality but you also have to be willing to see what works and then hold on to your awareness. What I see people doing all the time is giving up their awareness in favor of somebody else’s point of view. The tenacity of consciousness is about really holding on to what you know is true; whether anybody else agrees with you or not. Willing to be aware of what others are not willing to be aware of. Willing to move forward with what you know whether anybody else chooses it or not, that’s the tenacity of consciousness.”

Do you realize that consciousness IS the way we all get out of the limitations of our lives and the way we can all change pretty much anything? Douglas says, “When we begin to choose and hold on to the tenacity of consciousness, all of those things that were problems, begin to disappear… they go way becuase your construct of reality becomes more about consciousness than about getting the best of this reality. And then this reality goes along and gives you the best and more because it admires consciousness and it begets consciousness which gives you more awareness of what you can do in every moment.”

Are your ready to leap? Are you ready to choose consciousness and hold on tenaciously – regardless of what occurs? Even if you can’t see? Even if you don’t know what the outcome will be? Even if people leave? Even if you are the only one… Would you be willing to have that kind of courage? Would you be willing to BE the change you’d like to see in the world? Is now the time?

What was brought up here as I read this, wow…crying now. This is good as I know this was meant to be my knowledge on this very day in this very moment. Thank you.
My “reality” right now is the strength that I have lost in my body, through and illness and through no longer walking out to my van and back home (use a wheelchair for distances). Soooo, now I am “well” and have been working so so so hard to rebuild my strength, be that woman I knew who would take off at any moment and throw her w/c in the van and GO! I have lost her. I am working so hard to find her.
Question! I have been listening and practicing for months now, took my first bars class and loved it. The light and heavy thing…working out, the thought of working out is so heavy.but I am thinking so necessary anyways….
Back to question! Would I be being more me if I did not do this stressful exercise and working out yet still reconstruct and strengthen how I want to? I do realize you are not doctors (do not have use for them anyways!) and are not diagnosing …just want some advice from yur standpoint.
Blessings, Marie K

Hi Marie, I would like to suggest you speak with a facilitator about this. Facilitators will ask you questions so that you can know what you know and what will work for you and your body. Who would be a contribution to you and your body? Have a look through the facilitators listed at www.accessconsciousness.com/facilitators.asp and find one that would be a contribution. Most facilitators are happy to assist via phone or skype.
